that serenity post i've been talking about
Oct. 2nd, 2005 06:41 pmI suppose I should start this off by saying "Yes, i recognize that I'm obsessed. And a dork." Now that I've gotten that out of the way, here's some random commentary on my experience (any spoilers will be saved until the end and placed behind a cut.)
1: All Bets are Off
If I were the betting type, I'd be out a few hundred right now - my baby sister did not come crashing into this world during the movie on Friday night. As a matter of fact, as far as I know, she's still enjoying her stay in-utero. (Of course, we're going back for tonight's 7:20 showing, so that may change shortly...)
2. Dorks in Downingtown!
I want to know how the fuck I was unaware of the fact that there is apparently a sci-fi or whedonverse or something group numbering about 30-40 in this tiny little town! Seriously - there was this big group of them that arrived together, and then more kept coming in to join them. It never really occurred to me to go onto the browncoats site and say "hi, anyone going to the regal cinema in downingtown this friday?" 'Cause, hello, it's fucking downingtown!
3. LJ Rulz
as the movie was ending and people were exiting (mer and i are true dorks that stayed behind to watch the credits), these two young girls (I'd guess high-school age) walk by and one of them says something to the effect of, "I can't wait to get home and write about this in my LJ!" tee hee.
4. Take My Love, Take My Land, Take My Music?
they didn't use the firefly theme. at the very end of the credits, they played an instrumental version, and there may have been some versions of it played at parts during the movie (I plan on listening for that today), but seeing that firefly soar through the black at the beginning without that twangy guitar felt strange to me.
5. My Effects are Pastede On Yay
for having a small budget, the effects in this movie were pretty darn good. i saw someone comment that at times, it looked like the backgrounds were pastede on yay. i didn't pick up on that, but i was sucked in by the movie for most of it, and watching the ship, and the guns, and the people...
( spoilers start very mild, and get bigger as I talk )
That's it for now - time to find my shoes, get mer out of the shower, and head back to the theater.
Go see this movie.
Can't stop the signal.
