Okay, total randomage indeed, but I remember the excitement when they pulled PPA off the market...
There's new stuff, Phenylephrine HCl. I tried it out. It works, it doesn't fuck with my head, and it doesn't give me insomnia. Might want to give the stuff a shot, the next time your sinuses start acting up.
incessant coughing and thinking-too-hard-ness bad. burning things good. (grunt.)
on the sharing-med-info front, have you ever heard of/tried Salonpas patches? They're OTC menthol/aspirin topical patches (I get them at Walmart for about $3 for 40 patches) and they have saved my back on many, many occasions. like now, for example, when it's spasming and i have to catering... similar to the way nothing worked on my head like PPA, nothing works on my back like Salonpas.
I've heard of them, but not tried them - my back has actually been a lot less sucky these days. I'll give 'em a shot the next time my spine blows up on me, though - thanks!

You weren't the only person burning things this New Year's, though...
